I’m so tired of hearing stories of people being asked to teach propaganda that goes against their personal beliefs(propaganda is always against someone’s beliefs - who are you willing to harm?). <br><br>If you’re being bullied by parents, stop being a good little worker bee. Don’t put any extra labor into being a good teacher. This is all you owe them: the bare minimum contractually required. Why are you laboring for people who treat you like crap? Stop going to school board meetings. Stop providing any free labor for people who only want to abuse you. <br><br>If you’re being bullied by troll parents or board members you have no legal responsibility to answer to them. Don’t. Do. Not. Engage. Who gives a shit about these fuckers? You must only engage with your employer. Any other communication is as a person not an employee. You should never engage with parents or board members as a person. <br><br>I’m seeing all these posts of people eager to hound teachers until they resign. This is not bullying. This is harassment. Trolls have no power over your career unless you let them. If you’ve done something wrong and you need to resign, resign. Otherwise, fuck them. <br><br>As for propaganda, propaganda is never acceptable. If you’re being forced to push propaganda then you should immediately stop doing any labor for your school. It is not your responsibility to protect their reputation. It’s theirs. <br><br>If labor laws were actually enforced propaganda wouldn’t exist.(propaganda is always illegal) You are under no obligation to labor for your school under any circumstances. Propaganda is not laboring in good faith. It is, in fact, fraud. <br><br>When are educators going to learn? They don’t care about you. You have zero control over parents and board members. <br><br>My kid got expelled this week for calling a troll who was abusing a teacher a “piece of shit who is unworthy to share oxygen with my teacher.” I had to pick up my kid from summer school and apologize. My kid apologized and will have no punishment. Still, I’m a little embarrassed. This is how my kid and I both feel about educators being bullied. If you abuse teachers, you are a piece of shit unworthy to share oxygen with them. I’m embarrassed that my kid said this. I’m not embarrassed that my kid is standing up for educators. We all have a responsibility to protect educators from abuse. <br><br>If you’re a young person, please remember that you have a responsibility to protect educators from abuse. <br><br>As a parent, I’m sorry. I’m sorry our country has devolved into this and that educators are being abused.
