Hey All,

I woke up this morning to notifications from my bank that my account had multiple overdrafts. I immediately checked my accounts and found that my savings and checking accounts were drained into a new external account that I had never seen before. I knew right away that my bank account was hacked!

I immediately called my bank and waited for what seemed to be an eternity to get a live agent on the phone. The agent I spoke with was very nice and empathetic so I won’t hold that against her, but she was seemingly clueless. She told me that she was going to escalate the issue to her supervisor, but the supervisor never got on the line. Instead, I was transferred to the fraud department.

I found out I was on the line with the fraud department so I called Bank of America and spoke to the fraud department. They told me that the Bank of America was hacked and this was happening to hundreds of other people. So, the lady in the fraud department took notes, put a hold on it, and then told me that they would review and put my money back in my account. She also told me that it could take 2 weeks for the investigation to take place. But, she put a hold on it to get the money back so I wasn’t out of money.

I was angry and I let the lady know that I was angry. She told me that there was nothing she could do about the investigation but that she could escalte this to her manager. She did and the manager came on the line and told me the exact same thing. I told the manager I was angry and that I felt like she was just a robot. I told her that I didn’t care about any of the other calls she had, that I had real money that was taken from my account and I wanted it back immediately.

The manager assured me that she would call and see what she could do. She made a few calls and called me back to tell me that they could put my money back into my account in a matter of hours. So, I now I have my money back and threatening to make a scene and escalte was a good thing in this case. I can only imagine if threatening to make a scene and escalate would have worked when my Tesla was vandalized and I lost $1500 worth of window and body work.

TLDR; I woke up to breached accounts this morning and was threatening to make a scene and get a manger to get my money back. I got my money back and the lady in the fraud department seemed clueless, but I got my manager.

Edit: threatening to make a scene and complaining loudly to the manager clearly worked. I was told that the bank was hacked so it wasn’t my fault. But, the cops, the bank, and the credit reporting agencies don’t care about that. I spoke to the Bank of America and clearly was able to get my money back.
