one of the greatest joys of travel, for me, is the people-watching and making observations about the local culture... what are some of the observations that you've made?

one of the things i enjoy most about traveling is sitting at a street side table, watching the people go by, and making observations about the local culture.

for example, it feels like in the US, you see a lot of older men in plaid / camo, and a lot of younger men with their pants dragging down their ass.

in canada, i saw a lot of older men in plaid / camo, and a lot of younger men with beards and skinny jeans.

in denmark, the people look older, and nobody looks like they're trying to be stylish. i attribute this to the concept of "hygge" [pronounced hoo-gah], which emphasizes the idea of being happy in the simplicity of life / contentment.

what are some observations you've made about the people of various countries or cultures, or even various regions within a country?

edit: wow, this thread really blew up! thanks for all of your responses, everyone :)
