We're not too different than the anti-gun people.

It seems to me we go about things the wrong way on reddit. So instead of downvoting the living hell out of people that disagree, why not try to have a conversation instead of being combative. The best example of this is the front page right now. If you scroll through the comments you'll see a whole bunch of people who are against guns and think we are the most unreasonable people. While we think they are the unreasonable ones.

I think we go about talking about guns the wrong way. We take for granted that we know things about guns that others don't. Just imagine if we were to take someone who has never been to a gun range, but has seen plenty of action movies with lots of guns. You take them to a gun range, explain how to properly fire a gun, and show them how powerful it can be. Then you ask them if they think someone who has never held a gun before should be allowed to own a gun, if they think you need a license to carry. Things like that.

I think if we were to do that across the nation, we'd see a lot of people change their minds on gun control. So why not stop being offended by things people say and take it as an opportunity to educate people? Why not show them what we really do?
