ELI5: What is the deal with the chambers redesign?

Hi all! I browsed through some of the front page and chambers as a whole and I see a lot of people upset about this redesign, and I get why, but I don't get what all of the fuss is about because I don't see a lot of changes. It must be because I haven't logged in for a while, but the redesign just seems like a slight change and nothing to get all worked up about. I don't get what all of the fuss is about and would love to be ELI5'd.
