Do you ever get blocked by characters refusing to do things?

In my story, I just wanted my main character to have a conversation with someone and go through a few events, but instead they decided to just sleep the day away. I tried to argue with them, telling them they needed to go outside and do things, but they told me that wasn't the plan, so someone else will just have to do it instead. I was a bit frustrated about that, but the new event seems cool.
