I work in a catering kitchen and our staff fridge has around 75% unlabeled meals in there. It is so fucking infuriating. First of all, the kitchen staff is prohibited from eating anything due to safety, but the thought of having to throw out an entire week of someone’s groceries is just fucking stupid. I get it, things get busy, you’re in a hurry, but please just grab some stickers or sharpies and put your damn initials on your things.

Second, if you are with a meal delivery service, PLEASE make sure your name is visible on the bag or labels. Whoever thought it was a good idea to label 50 people’s meals with “Last Name, J” when everyone in the meal program has the same last name is a complete idiot. And don’t even get me started on the people who have completely blank black bags staring back at me.

Also if you order food and bring it to work, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LABEL IT. ESPECIALLY IF YOU ORDER FOOD DELIVERY AND THEY DON’T LABEL IT. ESPECIALLY IF YOU ORDER FOOD DELIVERY AND THE NAME ON THE ORDER ISNT YOU. I had to throw out an entire bento box (2 meals) because someone ordered food and it was labeled with with the name of their 14 year old daughter because she ordered it with her credit card and didn’t bring it home because she went on a school field trip.

UNLABELED FOOD GETS THROWN AWAY AT THE END OF THE DAY WITH NO EXCEPTIONS. And believe me, you are not the only one in this meal delivery program. ESPECIALLY IF YOU ORDER 3 MEALS A DAY.

Also, because I feel like people might be confused, I am the catering manager, and all of our catering goes out within hours, so no, it is not for an event.
