1. **Chunking.**

Divide your notes up into smaller blocks of text. If the material is too hard to understand in 1 setting, then space out the blocks and read them individually. It can help retain the information.

2. **Bloom's Taxonomy.**

There are 6 levels of Bloom's Taxonomy.

- 1. **Knowledge**. This is the most basic level. You memorize information verbatim.

- 2. **Comprehension.** You read over the material in your own words.

- 3. **Application.** You try to imagine yourself in a situation and how you would apply the information given.

- 4. **Analysis.** You try to see if the information makes sense. Compare it to your current knowledge and see if the information conflicts with anything else you've learned.

- 5. **Synthesis.** You try to create something new out of the information that you got. Take 2 peices of information (from the same source) and combine them together to create a new concept or idea.

- 6. **Evaluation.** This is the highest level. You compare multiple pieces of information (from the same source) to make an argument.

3. **Active Recall.**

This is one of the most important things to do. This is taking the material your given and rephrasing it in your own words. Then test yourself on the material. If you don't know it, then re-read the information your given until you can answer the question.

4. **Flashcards.**

This is a variation of Active Recall. On the front of the index card, write down the question. On the back of the index card, write down the answer. Go through the index cards and test yourself. If you don't know it, then re-read the material.

5. **Teaching.**

Teaching is the best way to memorize. Try to find someone who you can teach. This is like Bloom's Taxonomy. You're actively recalling all the information your taught. Also, you are actively telling that information to someone else. This helps your brain more easily retain the information.
