What if anime was real and we're the ones watching it?

This idea came to me randomly, and I found it really interesting. <br><br>You know how in anime, there are a lot of moments where the characters look directly at the viewer, wink at us, show us their emotions, etc., and sometimes even have inner monologues and stuff. <br><br>A part of me always felt like that's because they know we're watching them, and they want to communicate with us, tell us their feelings and stuff. <br><br>So, I was wondering, what if that's actually true?
