I'm tired of my "stuff".

I've never been a "minimalist" in the "living with nothing" extremes, but I have gone through very drastic changes. Here's my story.

I used to have a lot of "stuff". I mean a lot. For example, when I did my cooking, I had so many kitchen gadgets and pots/pans and dishes and plates, that sometimes I would get tired of washing them and I'd just leave them in the sink "for tomorrow". I probably used to have over 50+ kitchen utensils and tools (blender, mixer, chopper, peeler, grater, etc).

Then 2 years ago, I moved from the US to a new country. I had to pack up my whole life into 2 bags (I only kept a few boxes worth of items in a friend's garage, about 5 boxes for sentimental items like photos and projects). It was hard to go through everything and decide what to take. I ended up just selling everything (I made over $1k from it, not bad) and buying everything when I got to my new country.

I had a "living with less" moment, and a "let go" moment. I have never gone back. I have very few kitchen utensils now. I have 1 cutting board, 2 knives, 3 pots, an electric rice cooker, and a coffee maker. That's it. I do a lot of food prep for the week and make most of my food "batch" style, which makes cleaning up a lot easier.

I have only 3 pairs of shorts, 4 pairs of light pants, 1 sweat pants, 1 sweater, 1 rain jacket, and 1 fleece. I have 5 pairs of socks. I have 1 pair of sandals, and 1 pair of sneakers.

I have tons of books on my bookshelves, but I have gotten rid of over 50% of them. I have consoles too, but I only have 1 controller for each and 1 game per genre (one strategy game, one fighting game, etc).

When I tidy up now, it takes maybe 15 minutes. I also don't have any consoles in my bedroom. It's an absolute and complete change from how I used to be.

I have a very small desk and a small TV, but very little else. I have no movie player, no subwoofer, no dual monitors, extra fans, anything. I only have what I need to "get the job done", as they say. And I have never been happier.

I have less stuff overall, and I have cut back on my "crap accumulation". And honestly, it has never felt better.

Since I'm home more, I value my space more. And now I'm very happy with my "stuff" situation, and I can relax a lot more.

I'm not gonna lie, I don't think I would ever go full minimalist. I have too many hobbies. But I went from "clutter" to "small mess" and that's "living with less", to me.
