There’s a new wave of people larping as economists and telling people to “start a business” or “invest in the market” as if that’s an option for most people.

The vast majority of people can’t “start a business”, or if they do, it will be a small, unsuccessful business that won’t put food on the table. Nor will they be able to “invest in the market”, because they don’t have the disposable income to do so, and the market is largely unfathomable to the average person.

But all the proof you need that this is an issue of wealth, luck, and privilege rather than hypergamy or lack of game is that everyone knows someone who is very good looking but poor, and works a terrible job. Yet, hypergamists will claim this is because they lack “game”, but the real reason is that they lack money and social connections.

And what’s this nonsense about “making your own opportunity” and becoming an “entrepreneur”?

Translation: become a debt slave to the bank by taking out a massive loan to fund your business that will probably fail.

Yeah, sure, “make your own opportunity” as if luck, privilege, connections, wealth, intelligence and resources don’t play a massive factor in success.

And what about all the people who already have businesses and are barely scraping by? Should they just “make their own opportunity” as well?

There’s this whole constant larp going on where people pretend like success is a simple matter of “working harder” and that anyone can “make it” no matter their circumstances, and anyone who doesn’t is a “loser”.

No, the reason you don’t become an entrepreneur is that it’s a massive gamble and you’d rather have a steady paycheck even if it’s low.

The reason you aren’t an entrepreneur is not because you don’t have the ‘mental toughness’, it’s because you don’t have the money, connections or ability.

And what’s with these ridiculous suggestions like “join the police force” or “join the navy”?

Yeah, sure, and promptly become homeless and have no access to healthcare, along with closing off all your other options because you’ll have a “governement job” on your resume, which few employers will look at fondly.

Translation: “I have no idea how to help you improve your situation, but i know you should do something, so here’s a random suggestion, not like it will actually help, lol”.

And don’t even get me started on the whole “le fruge” movement, which is just a bunch of privileged, luckier people scolding the poor for not being able to live their fairy tale lives of “self sufficiency” out in the woods while they work as a programmer and make good money.

If anything, scold the government for allowing this to happen, scold the ultra wealthy who are hoarding all the money, scold the privileged for their luck.

But scolding the poor? That’s just like kicking someone when they’re already down.
