Microsoft said it will be ending support for Windows 10 version 22H2 on October 14, 2025. That effectively means the software giant is ending support for the entire operating system in a little over a year.<br><br>The company typically supports its software for "10 years or 2-5 years past the original device manufacturer's support period (whichever is longer)", according to the Windows 10 Lifecycle Policy page. Support for Windows 10 started on July 29, 2015, so Microsoft would have stopped supporting the OS any way around fall of 2025.<br><br>Microsoft has already begun to sunset the operating system in favor of Windows 11. Sales of the newer software have picked up. According to a report by the market research firm Statcounter, the newer OS has claimed almost 22% of the desktop operating system market in the US, with Windows 10 down to about 57%.<br><br>The company is ending support for Windows 10 version 22H2 on October 14, 2025, according to its Windows 10 Home and Pro Lifecycle page. That is the final release of the operating system. Home and Pro versions of the software will lose access to security and non-security updates.<br><br>The company is ending support for Windows 10 Enterprise and Education versions on October 14, 2025, as well.
