Would you make the kids call the parents about the poor grade or the kids ignore the parent and take the hit?

I'm a senior English teacher and advisor. I taught the kids to not email parents during class. We're on a semester system and students are aware of the deadline for grades to be entered. It's only 2 weeks into class and one of my kids has a 0% because the parent is never around and is frustrated at the kid.<br><br>The parent is not happy and reached out to me about the situation. I told her to communicate with the child about this issue and said that I'm not going to let the kids email the parents about their grades during class. The parent got frustrated with that and said that I should take out the kids and let them email the parents so that the parents can see what is going on. I told her I'm not going to do that.<br><br>I'm not sure what to do. Would you make the kids email the parents about their grades during class or tell the kids to make an appointment to see you after class?
