Are you concerned about AI "Ethics" at places like Google and Meta?

Ethics at places like Google and Meta are a joke. They don't care about ethics. They care about appearances and PR and doing whatever it takes to allow them to do what they want to do.

Don't let the term "Ethics" fool you. It's all just PR tripe.

So many at Google were mad about producing weapons in the past. Now, the thing that is going to kill more people is AI, but I bet you they've hushed up and quit arguing about it. Do you know who seems to be the voice against it over there? Former workers, and workers from other companies, Google just keeps on going.

For those that know a bit about Google, it's obvious that the people who care "the most" about "Ethics" are "Ethicists" who don't really do much anymore but PR, while the engineers who care are often in a minority and seem to mostly have been pushed out (former employees), and sometimes are engineers who work at other companies (not Google). What do you think these factors mean for "Ethics" at Google?

Also, if they are so "Ethical" why are they working on this? Why don't they just let the other companies do it?
