I recently turned 37 and have been in IT for 17 years in various roles. Unfortunately, I was laid off due to having my contract end. It has been very tough finding a job. A lot of recruiters have come out and said that it is because of my age. No matter how hard I've tried, I simply can't seem to overcome this hurdle. All of the job applications I've sent out have been dead in the water.

I recently learned that this has been a problem in the US for a while. How do you overcome being 30+ in a world that doesn't seem to want you? I'm getting ready to start selling plasma to pay my bills.

US (for those wondering)
