One night I was walking home from work. I was lost in thought for a bit, and suddenly the next thing I know, I’m getting yelled at by a woman. This woman was saying things like “you nonchalant bastard, how could you do this!”, “don’t you remember me!”, “you’re kidding me right?”. She seemed pissed. I was confused, and I don’tolerate much when it comes to disrespect.

I told her she was barking up the wrong tree if she thought I was her boyfriend. She insisted it was me, saying things like “don’t try to play dumb!”, “all I want is for you to give me back my stuff!”. I told her that she should stop harassing me. She said “I’m not going to leave you alone anymore, I’ve given you plenty of chances to get in touch with me and you have ignored them all”. I told her to fuck off. She started yelling at the top of her lungs, and out of embarrassment, I just crossed the street.

Things were quiet for a couple of days. After a week, the same woman showing up at my work. Shortly after I clocked in, I noticed her walking out of the back door - she had left a “gift”. It was a book with a note, saying something along the lines of “you’re a real piece of shit, and that I’m not going to let you get away with this. You’re a sick, twisted man. After reading this book you will feel guilty for not treating me right, and you will want to make it right. Why don’t you spend more time with me than out getting drunk at the bar? But I refuse to want you anymore”. There was also a quote from a selena gomez song. The book was a self-help book about how-to guides for treating your partner better. I was confused because I didn’t even drink that much, nor did I ever meet this girl.

I was pretty creeped out by this point. On the bus ride home, I put some headphones in and listened to music, not wanting anything else to happen. We had nearly reached my stop. All of a sudden, I felt a hand grasp my arm. I turned, and saw her. She was telling me that I better read that book, that I still owed her money and had to give her back her stuffed animals - she claimed I had taken them from her house and refused to give them back. I tried to shake my arm loose, but she held on tight.

I told her if she didn’t let go, I’d call the police. She let go, telling me that she was gonna follow me everywhere I go. I did end up calling the police, and shortly after one of the other passengers told me they had called the police. She got off at my stop, but the bus driver didn’t let me off - he told me he’d call the cops for me, and that he would keep her on the bus. I got home safe, and I never saw her again.

Let’s not meet. But more than that, let’s not have delusions.
