I've been called a "fudd" for liking bolt actions.

I have 2 rifles: a 12 gauge and a .308 Remington 700 SPS. When I tell people I like bolt actions over semi-autos, I get called names and get a lot of crap for it. The bolt action is just what I know. My great-grandfather used one in WW1, my grandfather used one in WW2, and my father used one in Vietnam.

I'm not saying I'll never buy an AR or an AK, but I know my bolt action rifles. My grandfather taught me how to shoot with a bolt action, and I feel comfortable with it.

I've never been called a "fudd" before, but I looked it up and wikipedia says it an "old, out-of-touch shooter who wonders why all you young whippersnappers and your scary black rifles". I'm 42. Is that old and out of touch?

EDIT: looking at your profile and counting the number of comments isn't productive. This thread was made so people could talk, not argue.

EDIT 2: wow, a lot of people have upvoted this thread. Thanks for the kind words.
