How do I use productivity techniques to schedule time for my trauma-influenced ADHD mind to wander?

No matter how hard I try, my mind gets distracted easily, and it will derail from the specific thing I'm doing or thinking about for the day, to some other topic, and it also delves deep into negative thoughts (fairly common with trauma survivors). I also have ADHD.

I don't want to designate a specific time for my mind to wander because I think this will hinder my ability to be productive and focused again. But currently my mind is wandering so much it's hard to get anything done. I feel like I'm constantly trying to steer myself back to the specific task I'm doing, so I'm exhausting myself this way as well.

What are some ways I can navigate my mind in a productive manner? I want to be able to get things done and work, but I also need to find some things to help my mind feel more at ease. I think it would be beneficial to have my mind wander, but I'm unsure of how to make the time for it and for the things I need to get done.
