i encounter mostly dads who do this, and they think moms are not confrontational enough about it.

i was hanging out with my friend (f20) in our dorm room. my friend's friend (f20) was there too. her dad stopped by our dorm to drop off some snacks. he walked in, greeted my friend and i with a hug, and he gave us a pat on the back. he did not know us at all. he walked in without knocking, too. then he started getting mad at his daughter for not confronting me and my friend about not giving him space. he literally touched me and my friend, and he thinks he is not in the wrong. he made us feel bad about it, too, and made us apologize for not telling him to give us space. he said we were supposed to let him know he was getting too close. like, dude, it is your fault for walking in and hugging us without permission.

this encounter happened in 2021, and i am still mad about it. he was not even sorry, and instead, he made us feel bad about it. i am sorry, but no random dad is allowed to hug me or pat me on the back.

i do not understand parents who think they have a right to touch random kids just because they are kids. i am an adult, and i do not like being touched at all. no one has a right to touch random people, especially random adults. it is not okay to touch random kids, even if they are underage. touch is not love, and it is not appropriate to touch random people.
