just wanted to drop this here to help others, and to help me remember it.

basically, the secret i discovered is that even if the material you are studying is difficult, boring, or confusing, if you can convince yourself that you fully understand what you are studying (even if you don't), it will actually help you understand it fully.

this has worked for me so many times. apparently, i just need to convince myself that i understand something fully, and then all of the pieces of it start to fall together.

let me try to give an example, using calculus as the subject.

lets say, hypothetically, you are trying to understand functions of a functions. hypothetically, every time you read about this topic, you feel like you are about to throw up, the words start to look like gibberish, you get a nose bleed, your brain starts to hurt, etc.

but, hypothetically, lets say you take a deep breath, and say to yourself, "i fully understand this topic. i have mastered the concept of functions of functions." apparently, this changes everything. if you can actually convince yourself that you fully understand something, you will start to make sense of it.

the way i think this works is that when you fully convince yourself that you understand something, you stop getting in your own way. you stop letting your fear of not understanding something get in the way.

this is why the "fake it till you make it" mindset works.

i know this is a weird one, but i hope this helps.
