I tried watching Crazy Rich Asians and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before on Netflix and just couldn’t. So much cringe. The acting is so wooden, the script is so cheesy, and the characters are so two dimensional. I came away with a very bad taste in my mouth, feeling like I lost brain cells watching the garbage.

Crazy Rich Asians is a movie where the script is full of cliches with the American girl going to the rich Asian country to find her Asian roots and a tall dark and handsome Asian man. The whole movie is so cringy with the girl losing all her money and the Asian guy saving her with his wealth. The script is filled with Asian stereotypes and cliches. And the acting is so wooden, with the actors delivering their lines so awkwardly.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is even worse. The script is filled with Asian stereotypes, with the Asian girl being nerdy and awkward and having a crush on the white jock. And the Asian guy is such a cringe and tries so hard to be cool. The acting is also very bad, with the Asian actors delivering their lines very awkwardly. The whole movie is also very anti-Asian, with the Asian girl being portrayed as a nerdy and awkward stereotype.

If you want to see representation of Asian cultures in a respectful and nuanced way, then just watch anime. The characters are written by Asians and are very authentic with no stereotypes. The acting is also very good, with the Japanese voice actors delivering their lines very naturally. The scripts are also very high quality, with lots of depth and complexity.

There are so many good anime out there that showcase Asian cultures in a respectful and nuanced way. For example, K-ON is an anime about high school girls in a band in Japan. The characters are very authentic and relatable, with lots of depth and complexity. The script is also very natural, with the voice actors delivering their lines very naturally. The anime also showcases Japanese culture very respectfully, with lots of nuance and depth.

Another good example is My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, which is a romantic comedy about a high school boy in Japan. The characters are very authentic and relatable, with lots of depth and complexity. The script is also very natural, with the voice actors delivering their lines very naturally. The anime also showcases Japanese culture very respectfully, with lots of nuance and depth.

Overall, anime is so much better than live action when it comes to representing Asian cultures.
