Amazon has no plans to stop making Fire TV-branded devices, but it will instead be making Fire TV branded set-top boxes like the Fire TV Cube, sound bars, and potentially projectors and other accessories. Amazon will be sending notification emails to a number of employees working on its Fire TV edition smart TV project, and said it will be discontinuing its internal efforts to make Fire TVs.<br><br>The company will instead provide the services to other brands for integration.<br><br>Amazon has been sending out notifications to employees for the past several months, and said it would be focusing on making Fire TV branded set-top boxes, sound bars, and potentially projectors and other accessories. Amazon has also been moving its Fire TV edition smart TV engineers to work on the set-top boxes.<br><br>The company is currently working on developing a new Fire TV set-top box, with plans to be released in 2024. This new box will potentially support Wi-Fi 6E, as well as become much more powerful than the current Fire TV boxes.<br><br>The company will continue partnering with other brands to make smart TVs using the Fire TV operating system but said it will be discontinuing its own manufacturing plans.<br><br>The company said it would be keeping all of its current employees working on the Fire TV business, with many moving to work on the new set-top box.<br><br>Amazon has been a leader in this market, and many of its products are highly-rated. Its plans to discontinue its own internal efforts to make Fire TVs and instead provide the services to other brands, could potentially make the products cheaper and more accessible to consumers, as well as allow Amazon to focus on its other business initiatives.
