People without kids are NOT the issue

I am getting sick and tired of the narrative that we’re not having kids because “we don’t want to give up freedom/luxuries”. Or when people say that we’re the reason why healthcare and social security are going to be in trouble. Or that we should be taxed more because we don’t have kids. Or when others say it’s our fault that there is a labour shortage. Or that we should pay more for things like schools and healthcare bc we don’t have kids. These are just a few examples of the things I have personally heard.

And no, I don’t want to have kids. I can’t stand the idea of having kids. I will never want kids. But I pay taxes to help support parents and their children as part of society.

Parents give up a lot to have kids, and I can’t imagine that it would ever be worth it, but I also don’t fault others for wanting to be parents. We have to work well into our older years now, and most of us will be required to work until we die. Because old age homes are too expensive and the average person can’t afford to keep their parents up for 30 years after retirement, let alone their own lives.

There are far too many factors that prohibit us from having children. We are struggling to feed ourselves and keep roofs over our heads. We have to work 60+ hours a week just to keep our heads above water. Many cannot afford a house, let alone a big enough house for kids. Healthcare is too expensive. Pretty much everything is far too expensive, and wages are not high enough to live as an adult, let alone raise more humans.

As I have mentioned before, I do not want kids. I have never wanted kids, and I never will want kids. But I pay taxes to help support other people’s choices.

Am I the only one who is getting tired of being blamed for everything because I don’t want to procreate?
