Did anyone anticipate the effects of COVID would be so long lasting, or was it just me?

I'm not referring specifically to the disease itself. I'm referring to the effects of COVID. I know people were worried about the disease, but the economic effects of COVID have been huge.

For instance, no one anticipated that millions of people would resign from their jobs in what is now known as the "great resignation". We just kind of woke up to it one day. I don't remember hearing it predicted anywhere.

Few people anticipated the massive impact that COVID would have on global supply chains. Even fewer anticipated that these impacts would still exist today.

I remember hearing that COVID would change remote work forever. It did, but in a short period of time many companies began calling people back into the office.

People did anticipate some level of inflation, but I think most people were surprised by how long it stuck around.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine was partially the result of COVID. While no one anticipated that COVID would cause an invasion, the sanctions that were placed on Russia afterwards caused economic hardship that most people did not anticipate. Few people anticipated Russia cutting off gas to most of Europe with the result being that most households in Europe have had to massively change their heating habits.

I'm not talking about huge predictions like people were making about the disease, but the economic impact of the disease seemed to be short term in everyone's eyes.
