I was scrolling Facebook (in 2009) when I saw a post from our school principal saying that a famous actor wanted to come into my classroom and teach a lesson.

I very surprised that the very next day, Jason David Frank (the Green Power Ranger) very casually walked into my classroom. He was about 6'1, muscular, and had those dreamy eyes that you see in the movies. I didn't know who he was, so when the kids started screaming in the hallway and raising their arms, I thought I was in trouble.

At the time, I taught 8th grade algebra. He spent maybe 30 minutes talking with me about what we'd be doing that day, and then walked into the classroom with me.

I'm very thankful that it was a test day, so the kids had to sit quietly during their standardized test. He was very kind and patient with the kids as he went up and down the rows explaining the test questions. He even came up to me a few times to ask how he should help.

After the test, he taught a lesson on how ninjas use math to defeat their enemies. Jason used a lot of different mathematical concepts to explain the physics behind disarming someone with a stick.

Over the years, I must have used those same words a thousand times in the classroom. "Using math to defeat your enemies" is something that I still use to this day.

You can be sure that I had a lot of kids wanting to be in my class! (I had three classes of 8th grade algebra, so I maybe saw 90 kids a day. I'm sure word must have spread). He came into my classroom two or three more times, but maybe only about once or twice a year.
