Can anyone articulate why Nietzsche hated women?

From what I understand of Nietzsche, he was a proponent of individualism, he believed that everyone should be their own "highest value" and that you should live life for yourself and no one else. This is a philosophy that I believe is very applicable to women, who have historically had their lives dictated by men. So it seems like Nietzsche should have been sympathetic to feminism.

But I've heard he was quite the misogynist, and I just don't understand why.
