We copped the brunt of the fires on 01/01/2020. I have some good news.

TL;DR We are back in business. Over $10k in donations bounty from people we don't even know. I'm blown away.

Things have been a blur for me since the horrific day 15 days ago. We are still getting used to sleeping indoors and our 10 month old baby is starting to get over the mental trauma of having to flee the house on a minutes notice. We are still fixing up the house and getting the patio and BBQ setup back into place. By some miracle, I got my BBQ back for free thanks to a helpful guy who saw my post and PM'd me his contact details. Excellent bloke.

However, I still don't have a baby monitor because the equivalent baby movement video monitor costs $200 and we only have enough to afford a basic 2.4Ghz monitor. We still don't have a kettle, toaster, vacuum cleaner, or a patio set. I take solace in the fact that all our family members survived, even though my cousin copped a minor burn. Losing my house still stings, I miss walking out the back and making place for the dog to go out for a shit. We still have to pretend we own a house on weekends while in reality we live in our parent's place.

Yes, we still need bounty but I thought I'd update for anyone that cares. We are still in the trenches of fixing the house, pushing paper and dealing with insurance drama.

**Yes, I am on Centrelink. Fuck me. And yes I still have a 4 bedroom house. Fuck me. And yes, I get money back from my mortgage each month because it's an investment property. Fuck me. I still don't have a house. I rent a 2 bedroom place with my in-laws. That sucks, I don't need to hear your opinion about it.

** I've also been told not to post anything in this sub by the mods about this topic so I will not be responding to comments. Peace.

Edit 01/02/2020: Fuck me. We are pushing towards 15k now.

Edit 03/02/2020: bounty has reached $21k. We are speechless.

Edit 10/02/2020: $34k and still going strong. We are copping a fair bit of hate for this, but we aren't letting it bring us down. We are thinking of buying a caravan to help out others down the track.

Edit 01/03/2020: We have a caravan. Excellent. We are pushing 40k.

Edit 30/05/2020: We moved into our house! Onwards and upwards. Still on Centrelink, still with a mortgage. Still pushing towards getting a house deposit together.
