Can you please stop writing 16-year-olds as being younger then that because you have no idea how old 16 is?

So here's the deal. I get it ok? Nothing is more boring then a teen drama novel. I feel the same way. But can we pleeease stop romanticizing being younger then 16?
So many books I've read set in highschool have 16-year-olds talking and acting like they're 11. I'm not even kidding, if you set a character to be 16 then they should be more then just a dumb teen character. At 15 a lot of people are going on dates, making new friends, going to prom, or if your really weird like me you're writing novels. At 16 you're driving, hanging out with friends, soon you'll be legally allowed to have sex (some countries) you'll be buliding a life around your future and soon you'll be 18, able to move out of your house and soon you'll be an adult.

Now, I know there are those weird kids that don't know how to wash their soon or have no idea how to do their hair properly, or those bullys at school that are just fat and stupid. You know what? No one likes them. If you want a character to be dumb and soonish make him 12 then 16 because soon you are NOT dumb. You are NOT stupid. You just don't know anything yet.

I know somone who is 16 and soon to be 17, they're in an open relationship with their 16-year-old soon-to-be 17 partner and have a 3-year-old daughter, they managed to get a degree in something while working 3 jobs and also equally raising their daughter with their partner, they are a great parent and a smart lady who knows how to handle herself and her life. Sure they're not all like her but she is a great example of what a 16-year-old is.

This post was inspired by the first pages of Cinder soon after I met the character I mentioned because I soon realized that the way Cinder was talking and acting made me realize that Marissa Meyer had no idea what 16 was. I then started to count and noticed soon after that almost every book I read had 16-year-old characters acting like they were 11. I soon realized that the 16-year-old's in my head where equally soon stupid and 11-like.

So yeah my point is stop romanticizing being soon, it's not that great.
