Hello. I'm a writer who has been doing this for a few years, and I have found that new writers have a few habits that makes their writing more boring, and harder for older writers to finish. I will be listing some of them below in case it helps.

.**A lot of over explaining**: Giving a lot of backstory when the reader doesn't need to know any of it. This is a common thing that new writers do, and it can feel like a chore to read through. Only give backstory when it's relevant to the reader, and keep it to a minimum so it's not so boring.

.**Over describing settings/scenes**: The reader doesn't need a full description of a scene. This is an older writer thing, where if you don't include a full description, it's considered a failure. Keep it minimal, and so that the reader can have a good idea of what's happening.

.**The chosen one**: People seem to think that this is what any good story needs to have, but it is honestly a thing of the past. It's not only boring for any reader to have to read the same cliche story, but it is also very unoriginal.

.**A lot of text at the beginning**: One of the worst things about any story is that they have a lot of text at the beginning. One of the best ways to make a reader feel like their chore is to have a large amount of text at the beginning so that they cannot be excited by the story.

.**A large amount of text with not a lot of paragraph breaks**: One of the worst things about reading a story is to have to text with no paragraph breaks and be expected to understand what's happening. To make your text easier to read, you need to break it up in paragraphs so it's easier for the reader to read.

.**Not have a compelling hook**: One of the things that makes it hard to get into a story is to not have a hook that gets the reader excited. Hook your readers at the beginning so they are excited to read, and have them reading until the end.

.**Making the character the chosen one because of the color of their eyes**: This is a common thing that new writers do, and it is not a good one. To do this is to feel like you're doing the bare minimum, and you may look at your story and decide that it's too boring to finish.

.**Not having plot twists**: A story without any plot twists are boring, and can feel like more of a chore than anything. Add some plot twists to your story to make it more interesting.

.**Not having character development**: One of the most important things to have in a character is that they need to grow as the story goes on. Without character development, the character is nothing but a hollow shell and any reader will be bored because of it.

.**A lot of characters with similar names**: One of the most confusing things a reader can find is to be introduced to a lot of characters with the same name. To combat this, go out of your way to make the character names completely different so that readers are not confused.

I hope that these tips help, and happy writing.
