They can take away your right to decide if your family knows about your diagnosis or not. They can tell all your secrets to your entire family if they think it will save your life. They can tell your family about your illegal drug use if they think it will save your life. The doctors and nurses can just completely take away your privacy if they think it is for the greater good. They can breach patient confidentiality for any reason, they were given too much power and authority to decide if it is okay to breach a patient’s privacy or not. Patients should decide for themselves when their information is leaked to family members but the doctors and nurses are the ones instead who make that decision. The doctors and nurses can completely take away any patient’s right to privacy at any time if they think it is for the greater good. This is very wrong and invasive.
