CMV: The Jack and Jill bathroom setup is a notable failing of mid-century architecture

There was a time in the past when it was common for houses to have Jack and Jill sinks/changing areas along with other unique bathroom layouts. I recently lived in a house built in the 1950’s that had a jack and Jill bathroom setup with a toilet and shower on one side along with a Jack and Jill sink/changing area. That Jack and Jill sink and changing area was a massive waste of space and I wish that those mid-century architects had used the space for something more practical. It would have been better to add another toilet or a bidet, more storage for household items, and/or a linen closet. The Jack and Jill sink setup was intended for small children and babies to clean up and be washed without having to enter the bathroom and step around the shower curtain, but for me it was just wasted space. It was also very difficult to furnish a vanity in that area as any cabinet would need to be very narrow and I think I tried 5 different cabinets before I found one that fit the space and didn’t block the doorway to the bedroom. I hope that if I buy a house in the future it won’t have this kind of setup and modern builders and architects are moving away from these kinds of bathrooms but I can see a benefit to them.

Edit: These are pretty common in my area and I’m located in Florida
