33M. I make $200,000. Can I scale back my career?

I’m 33 with a kid (1 year old) and my wife is pregnant. I was an engineer, making 100,000, I got an MBA at 28, which opened the door to a director of strategy at a large firm where I make $200,000.<br><br>My family is now dependent on this income, and I have a job that requires a lot of travel and a lot of work. I’m exhausted.<br><br>My wife is a dentist and will take a break from work when the kids are born. I keep getting the pressure of providing and it’s hard to dissuade her of this. She was making 250,000 after a long and hard residency.<br><br>My dad was a lawyer and also hard working - he was never home and ruined his marriage to my mom. I don’t want this.<br><br>I would prefer to be a stay at home dad. But my wife would need to work.<br><br>100,000 is not the same as 250,000. I’m also interested in a lot of things and after a long corporate career, I can’t see myself in a small practice.<br><br>I’m lost - I don’t want money to be my only goal but I’m also hardwired now. I’m also interested in a lot of things.<br><br>I don’t want to talk money, I want to see if I can take a step back and be around more as a dad.<br><br>What do you think?
