What are the odds of the US Constitution being repealed/amended in a way that significantly changes the country’s structure?

Over the last few weeks of the election, I have heard more mentions of the possibility of the Constitution being repealed/amended.

I want to preface this by saying I am not American and have very limited knowledge of the country’s history or politics (I study Classical Antiquity if it helps). But all these mentions have made me very curious.

I understand that the Constitution has been amended several times over the centuries, sometimes helping, sometimes hindering the country. I want to know if the recent mentions of the Constitution’s possible changes would be meaningful and have a large impact on the country, or if these mentions are just a panic?

Would it be possible for the Constitution to be repealed/amended in a way that makes the US more similar to European countries, like scrapping the electoral system? Can amendments/repeals be made without going through the normal process through Congress, or is revolution the only way? Would the Constitution being repealed/amended have a significant impact on the country’s day-to-day functioning, or would it just be a cosmetic change?

If the Constitution were to be repealed/amended in a large and impactful way, what would be the first steps in this process, and who would need to be in power to make these changes?

*Also please be aware I am just asking out of curiosity and not trying to start a debate*
*Also, please inform me of anything else I should include*
