What percentage of your language skills are you actually using?

I've been wanting to study a language for quite some time now. I realized that I don't have to start from scratch because I already know some things about the language I want to study.<br><br>But I'm not sure how to approach it. <br><br>Let's say, hypothetically, my language skills are on 0-100%.<br><br>0% is a complete beginner.<br><br>100% is a native speaker.<br><br>I know it's not that simple but nevermind.<br><br>Maybe I'm only on 2% in the language I want to study, maybe I'm on 5%, maybe I'm on 10%.<br><br>Do you think it's possible to guess where you are as a beginner?<br><br>Is that even important?<br><br>My goal is obviously to get as close to 100% as possible.<br><br>What would be a good starting point to find out where I am?<br><br>Or should I not overthink it and start with common beginner resources?<br><br>Or maybe I should do something else?<br><br>What do you think?
