How attractive is a male author to a female reader?

Ok, let me explain this question with a story. I was recently at a reading, and I met a young author that published one of his first books. He was on the stage, and he was reading parts of his books to us. I was really impressed with his style of writing, and I would have bought the book on the spot, but then I saw him walking to his chair. I was really disappointed, as the way he looked and the way he acted really clashed with the tone of his book. He was wearing a bright yellow shirt, green pants, and I can not describe how he acted other than weird. <br><br>I still bought the book, and I am glad I did. It was a really good read, and it is not like his personality influenced his writing. I was just curious if other readers are as shallow as I am when they see the author for the first time. Do you care more about the writing or the author?
