ELI5: What's the deal with the Pope?

He's like the head Christian or something. He lives in a country called the Vatican in Italy, which is like the size of a tiny little neighborhood in the US. I swear I found a bigger park and took a crap there once. <br><br>He's not allowed to have sex but there are allegations he's been racist, covered up other bishops having sex with kids, spent billions of Church money on himself and his family and friends, and more. It almost sounds like the is as terrible as the president sometimes. <br><br>He says he talks to God but that's a pretty bold claim. Are other humans in other countries saying that and I just don't know about it?<br><br>He's got a fancy outfit that looks like is from the 1700s. He keeps saying the Church is in financial trouble yet they don't seem to be taking their own advice on not using their money and they're worth billions.<br><br>I don't really get it, explain it like I'm five.
