Global events have shocked and saddened Indians. As a result, many are adopting new perspectives. I have been reading the comments on the Indian chambers (r/IndiaIndia and r/IndiaInvestments and r/indiasocial) and the sentiment has been changing.

Overall, there is a sense of betrayal after the Rafale purchase and the Ukraine war. I have always been skeptical of India buying weapons from the west (France, Irael, USA, etc) but I was ridiculed for being a communist and not trusting the west. Well, now many are ridiculing the Indian government for trusting the west.

Additionally, the Ukraine war has shocked many Indians. Now, many Indians are agreeing with Russia that Ukraine is a nazi territory. This sentiment shocked me. Many Indians were generally hateful toward Pakistanis and Muslims and Hindus were supporting Israel for years. Perhaps it is an overreaction to the Ukrainian crisis but I think attitudes are changing.

I think it’s no accident that Ukraine was partly funded by India. Ukraine is a testing ground for India - testing the waters before buying weapons from the west. Ukraine is buying Indian vaccines and medicines and is looking to India to help with agriculture. Ukraine and India have a shared enemy in Pakistan. Ukraine is afraid that Pakistan will take over Kashmir. Why? Because the west wants to use Ukraine to defeat Pakistan and India is happy to help.

There is no doubt that India is cooperating with the west. India has long been a major hub of offshoring jobs from the west. So, it can technically be called a part of the west. However, I think something is shifting in the collective consciousness of Indians. I think this is perhaps the first time in my experience that western countries (France, USA, UK, Israel) are no longer being idolized. Rather, many are starting to see the deception that is being played on Indians. I have always been afraid to criticize the west in India partly because I am worried about being called a Russian agent or a communist. Now, many are speaking out against the west and it is no longer taboo.

Additionally, Indians have realized that the west is no longer strong. The west is on its death bed. We have been propping up the west for years but now the west is no longer strong. The puppeteers have been exposed. The deception has been exposed.

I can’t predict what will happen next but I have a strong sense that Indians are changing their perspective on the world. We no longer want to be a vassal of the west. We want our independence back.

Edit: for those who think I’m not Indian, I am an Indian-American. I settled in the USA but I speak Hindi and Marathi and visit India periodically. I have family there still and I used to live there part time until I settled in the USA. I am fluent in Hindi and Marathi. If you don’t like my view, tough luck.
