I just recently found this sub, and I thought the meaning of minimalism meant having nothing... but is that the wrong interpretation?

I just recently found this sub, and I thought the meaning of minimalism meant having nothing, but I visited this sub and it seems like the meaning is just having less stuff. I am a little confused. I have too much stuff and I want to be minimalist, but it seems like that the content in this sub is just people wanting to be cleaner in their homes and not actually minimalists. I am a little confused. Any thoughts?
