ELI5: How do they get the metal ring in the center of a twinkie?

This has bothered me for years. It is impossible to make one. Trying to bite into one without eating the top off first is impossible. It is like they injected the creamy stuff in there after the fact, but how did they get the metal ring in there before they did that? It's just a little too big to push through the hole... did they put the metal ring in while it was all doughy and THEN bake it that way? Trying to push a metal ring through a Twinkie just rips the bottom off. <br><br>I've been wondering for years but never had any luck googling... figured I could find the answer here.
