Do you think we would be better off with less online communities?

Like, I know this may seem like a weird thing to post on here, on the biggest online community of all. I'm not saying that people should stop talking to each other online, I'm saying I wonder if people would be better off not having their own little micro communities. I don't think you ever really see it if you're in one though. It's impossible to be objective in that way. But for example, the people in this sub are almost entirely politically polarized, and we very rarely talk about anything else. I think that if chambers didn't exist, people would be talking to others in person who may have different beliefs and views and perspectives and cultures and life experiences, and it would benefit humanity as a whole. But I'm a 21 year old chambers user who dropped out of college and lives in his father's basement, so I may not have the best view of things. What do you think?

EDIT: I want to clarify that I'm not saying online communities are inherently bad, or that people should just stop talking online completely. I think there is a difference between positive communities that are centered around helping people, and communities that just exist to further alienate people from the rest of the world.
