I hate the "how much money do you make" questions

I've always been very forthcoming about my salary. It was 250k before I retired at 27. However, I've noticed that once I mention that people treat me differently. It's as if the way I spend my money is justified and that I can do whatever I want because I have money.

frugal-living is about more than money. It is about respect for the planet, for the people around you, for the services that they provide. But no, when they learn about my past income, they treat me differently. I've stopped telling people how much I make since.

I'm on a 13k budget for this year. I've never been happier. Yes, I can afford more, but that doesn't mean that I can be irresponsible with my money. I make 75% of it via a small business I run.

By the way, it took a lot of effort for me to get where I am, I stopped posting on here because I felt judged, I prefer to lurk more often than post. I don't want to be seen as a rich jerk.

Anyways, hope this makes sense.

EDIT: what frugal things do you do? I'd love to hear what changes you've made, how they affected you, and what you think about the questions I posted.

EDIT 2: thank you all for your nice PM's and comments, I feel so much better!
