For the last five years, I have been reducing my belongings and living a fairly minimalist lifestyle. I don’t identify as a minimalist. But a few years ago it felt like everyone was into minimalism and it was a good thing.

I’ve noticed over the last six months that there is a fairly strong backlash against minimalism. The fairly recent Taylor Swift interview is a great example where she laughed at the idea of having a few hundred possessions, compared that to her 500 purses and fairly shook her head.

Could you explain this shift to me?
