I'm a zoomer who spent all of Covid on Reddit. I would frequent chambers like r/kingcobrajfs, r/Daniellarson, and the like. I even made an account on one of the Cobra spin-off subs just so I could post a picture of my gf (now my wife) when someone on there asked for tinder match pics.

I never really encountered "catgirls" on other parts of the internet. Until last night. I was browsing tiktok and saw a video of a woman dressed up like a cat. It was a short video so I didn't really pay much attention to it.

I started thinking about this sub and how crazy the people in here are. There was a post from earlier today about some guy who was angry with how TikTok is filled with catgirls. But catgirls aren't even a thing. They're about as rare as the "pick me" girls that you find on tiktok.

So then I started using the term "catgirl" on tiktok and I found a few profiles of women who call themselves catgirls. They just put cat ears on and call themselves catgirls. It doesn't seem like any of them are actually furries, it just seems like a meme to them. Some of the catgirls I found were fakes, and by fake I mean they put cat ears on their boyfriends head and called them catgirls. I didn't see a single girl who was truly a "catgirl". None of them were fetishizing cats, none of them were dressing up in full cat suits, none of them were claiming that they were actually cats. They just wear cat ears and call themselves catgirls. It's not that big of a deal.

I still like browsing this sub though, there's a large amount of cringe that's fun to look at.
