I live in a small studio flat in an expensive city

I live in a small studio flat. It is approx. 34 m² (365 sqft) and it costs me 1320 AUD ($900 USD) a month. I live on my own in it and have no problem with the lack of space, but I can't shake off the feeling of guilt that I'm occupying a compact apartment space that could potentially be used by a small family.

I love living alone, I love living in this city, but I constantly consider getting a roommate or downscaling to a room in a share house so that my flat can be available to a couple or a small family. I know that it's my choice and my life, but I'm struggling mentally with how I can justify taking up this space when the housing situation in my city is poor. To put it into perspective, I once applied for a studio flat, and over 150 people applied for it, so I'm aware that lots of people will be looking at my place and I feel like a little evil single person hogging space that could be better used.

I'm not sure if anyone else has felt like this?
