Why is it so hard to get a gun at the gun show?

Recently I have been going to a lot of gun shows because I love the environment and the idea of buying guns in person, and I’m not here to hate on gun shows or people who run them, but I don’t understand why it is so hard to get a gun to go through the background check at the gun show, I’m 21, I have a clean record, and it takes hours for me to get approved to buy a gun, and I’m not the only person I know this happens to, I know multiple people who have been in the same situation and are also confuses as to why this is the case, I don’t completely understand how this process works, so maybe someone can explain to me why this is, and if there is a way to get around this wait.<br><br>Edit: just to clear some stuff up about my situation, I filled out the paperwork then they said they will call me when it is cleared, I went and ate food at a restaurant for about a hour, then went back and they said I was still pending approval, it took about 3.5 hours total to be approved.
