What is everyone's opinion on the "don't have children if you can't/ don't want to have a 20-30 year old" life hack?

I feel like most decent parents have seen and spoken to/hung out with adult children before, so why would it be a shock? Also, is this line truly realistic? Is there a working single dad with 2 kids in his 60s that didn't start raising his children until they were teenagers?
