I'm a person who has been very fortunate in life. I had a great childhood, a fantastic education at a top university, a wife who is a perfect match for me, and a really good job. I've met a lot of great people in my life, but there are always some people who really stand out.

A few months ago, my wife "Sarah" (who is the subject of this entry) and I were at a party. She went outside to get some fresh air with another couple, who she had met recently. They seemed nice enough, but when she came back in, something just didn't seem right with her.

I asked her what was going on, but she just said everything was fine and she had gone out because she was a little sick. I didn't really believe her, so I kept pushing her. She told me that the two people had been acting strange. She said that they seemed nervous and had asked a lot of questions about us. A little taken aback, I asked her about the questions, and she said they had wanted to know about our daily schedules. She had mentioned that we had a dog, and they wanted to know more about that. I asked if they had said anything else, but she just looked at me and said "They said they're really looking forward to meeting you. All of you."

It really sent a chill up my spine. I tried to brush it off, but it wouldn't leave my head. My wife said the couple had been really interested in our property, and asked if we had ever noticed anyone suspicious in the area. I said that we had, and told her about a lot of the strange occurrences we've had.

We live in a pretty secluded area. You can't really see our house from the street, so most of those incidents wouldn't have been about mistaken identity. I told her about the time we had woken up to our front door wide open, the time our neighbors saw someone sneaking around late at night, and the time I had woken up in the middle of the night to a noise and seen someone in my backyard. She was visibly upset by all of this, so I apologized. I didn't really know what else to do.

She said the couple had laughed about that, and that they had said "Well, maybe you should be careful". She then asked if I had ever noticed anything strange at work. That was a pretty odd question, so I asked her why she had asked it. She looked me dead in the eye and said "Just be careful how you answer". I was a little confused, but said that I hadn't noticed anything strange recently. I had, however, noticed a lot of strange occurrences at work in the past.

I had once been doing some overtime, which I wasn't legally allowed to do, and when I had gotten into my car I had seen a man in the driver's seat of the car next to me. It was the middle of the night and no one else was in the parking lot. He had waved at me, and I had waved back. I thought it was a little strange, but didn't think much of it. He was probably just waiting for someone. I drove home, intent on forgetting about it, but it really stuck with me.

The next day, I saw him again. This time, he was on the same floor I was working on. My office was in a huge tower, and the only people on my floor were the people I worked with. I asked who he was, and no one else had seen him. I mentioned it to my boss, who said he had probably just been lost. I was still a bit skeptical, but figured it was probably nothing. It was probably just some man who had been waiting for someone and I had happened to notice him.

Then, a few weeks later, I saw him again. This time, he was in the parking garage. I had again been working late, and he was standing by his car when I walked out. I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw him, and he just stared at me. I don't really know how long we stood there, but he finally got in his car and drove away.

I quickly ran back inside and told my boss what had happened. He was very skeptical, but said he would look into it. I didn't hear anything back, and figured it was probably a mistake on my part. It was probably just a man who worked in the building and happened to be in the same places as me. I tried to brush it off, but something just seemed off.

The next year, I had been moved to a different floor. I had been given a promotion, and was pretty excited. I was proud of myself, and I loved my new job. On the first day of my new job, I was setting up my office and a man walked in. He was pretty tall, with a buzz cut and beady eyes. He introduced himself as my new co-worker, and I said hello. He was friendly enough, but something seemed off.

Everytime I looked up, he was looking at me. He would be reading or looking at the TV, but as soon as I looked over he would look at me. It really started to creep me out. I mentioned it to my boss, who said he would keep an eye on him. A few days went by, and the strange things just kept happening.

I would go to lunch, and come back to find that my locked office had been opened. There would be a piece of paper on my desk, with a cryptic message like "Do you know who I am?" or "Don't think you can escape me". I didn't know what to think, but I was really afraid.

I asked for a transfer to a different department, but they told me it wasn't possible. I asked if I could quit, and they told me I couldn't. I didn't really know what to do, so I just went to work every day in fear of my life.

One day, when I was walking out, I saw a familiar face. It was the man from the parking garage. I froze again, and him and his friend just stared at me. I didn't really know what to do, so I just turned around and went back inside.

I told my boss what was going on, but he didn't seem to care. I finally snapped and said I wasn't going to come into work anymore if I was in danger.
He finally agreed to look into it, and I never heard anything back from him.

I didn't think much of it, but a few months later the man with the buzz cut "quit" his job. I put that in quotation marks, because I'm sure he didn't really quit. I think the company realized I had been telling the truth, and let him go.

I know this is kind of a wall of text, but I just can't seem to get this out of my head. I keep thinking that the couple my wife met were connected to these events, and that they were threatening her with their "don't think you can escape me" line. I keep pushing it out of my head, but it doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon.

What the hell is going on?
