Philosophy is dead, and science has been the sole heir for centuries. It has done good for the world. It has done bad for the world. It has become the religion of a modern age, where the submission of one's own thoughts to the scientific caravan is the sole means of progress. Where the religious leaders of the world are forced to wear the garb of the scientific method, not because they understand the principles behind it, but because they're forced to.

For example, take the use of the word "science" and "faith" and the conflict that often arises in the modern society. One does not exclude the other. Science is an approximation of the way the world works. If you can make a hypothesis that has evidence in the natural world, you can make a theory that becomes fact. However, the natural world is incredibly vast. If you're still stuck with Newton, or Einstein, orGalileo, then you're just not looking at the picture properly. The natural world is full of shit we don't know.

That's where philosophy comes in. It's supposed to be the harbinger of a paradigm shift. It's supposed to be the harbinger of chaos. If science is the society, then the philosopher is the outcast. Progress does not happen by following the rules. It never has.
