My daughter asked me if we are poor and I didn’t know what to say.

I’ve worked my butt off my entire life. I’ve had a few medical issues b4 and have to pay out of pocket for lots of things not covered by insurance. We’re broke most of the time. I’ve been a stay at home mom for 4 years now and my husband is working 2 jobs to pay for everything.

My daughter has everything she needs, food, clothes, a roof, a car, 2 nice phones, cheerleading, dance classes, school tutoring b4 and after school, we have all the streaming services, we travel to the beach or mountains 3 times a year and we dine out once a week. We also buy her whatever she needs for school. b4 this she was spoiled af and I regret this now.

While she does have everything she needs and I’d say a lot of what she wants, I did spoil her so much b4 and now she’s realizing we can’t afford the same things other kids have. So she asked me if we’re poor and I told her the truth that while she has everything she needs and lots of things she wants, my husband and I are broke and most of our money goes to bills. I think she’s now realizing a lot of kids have more than her and she’s not as spoiled as she thought.

Now I’m wondering if I should’ve just lied to her. I’ve thought about this for 2 weeks now and can’t decide if I did the right thing or not.
