The trend of every writer thinking that their upcoming book is a mix between popular media and another popular media is obnoxious. “Sandersonian fantasy in the vein of Stranger Things!” “Harry Potter in the style of a Call of Duty game!” It’s like every author is trying to convince the same 2.5% of TikTok users to buy their book. “It’s like Harry Potter but instead of magic everyone is obsessed with guns and not dying in a war that the government, run by child molesters, is using to line their own pockets! I swear it’s not political.” Is it too much to ask for the content to be original?
